Mourning Tide turns a natural shell into a functional crying-eye sculpture. A dark, half-lidded gaze sits above a fitted candle chamber, while melted wax can leave the corner of the eye and move across the shell like tears.
The precise path of the wax changes with flame, temperature, shell angle and time. Each burn temporarily redraws the work, binding its emotional image to a functional and deliberately unstable material process.
